All Saints’ Day. A day of remembrance

All Saints’ Day. A day of remembrance

The 1st of November is a day to commemorate the late. In Poland it is a very important day in the canon of Christian holidays. On  November 1st, family members gather at the graves of their passed loved ones and remember the dead in silent remembrance or prayer.

Countless prisoners of war who were held in Stalag VIII A during the Second World War and did not leave the camp alive remained nameless. Those whose names are known died hundreds or even thousands of kilometres from their homes. The Meetingpoint Memory Messiaen e.V. and the Foundation Remembrance, Education, Culture commemorate these soldiers and all victims of National Socialism on this special day, also in the name of those who lost their husbands, fathers, grandfathers in the POW camp.
