On May 7, 2022, in front of the monument to the prisoners of war of Stalag VIIIA, a commemoration ceremony was held, organized by the Foundation Remembrance, Education, Culture and Meetingpoint Memory Messiaen e.V. on the occasion of the end of World War II and the liberation of Stalag.

The event was attended, among others, by Artur Bieliński, District Administrator of Zgorzelec County , Radosław Baranowski, Deputy Mayor, and Anna Rakoczy, Chairwoman of the Zgorzelec Municipal Council. The Lower Silesian Parliament was represented by Tytus Czartoryski.

Special guests were representatives of the clergy, priests: Dean Jan Kutyła, Cezary Królewicz, Marek Bonifatiuk and Peter Birkner.

The ceremony was opened by the Director of the Foundation, Kinga Hartmann-Wóycicka. After the speeches, the common prayers and the laying of the wreath, the participants continued the meeting with a cup of coffee in the premises of the Center.
