European Centre for Remembrance, Education and Culture
The European Centre for Remembrance, Education and Culture is a memorial and conference centre on the site of the former Stalag VIII A in Zgorzelec.
The centre includes: a multifunctional main hall and seminar rooms. The facility is fully accessible to people with disabilities. It has a lift, parking spaces and Wi-Fi.
Renting
Renting the entire facility offers the possibility of organising cultural events and conferences for up to 150 people.
There are two conference rooms, seminar rooms, a concert hall, toilets and a kitchenette.
The Large Hall
The hall offers space for up to 120 people: seminars, training courses, concerts, film screenings.
Technical equipment: projector with screen, sound equipment, conference equipment for translations, interpreter’s booth. Platforms can be used to create a stage of variable size.
Conference rooms
There are two conference rooms for 35-50 people (approx. 75m²).
Technical equipment: projector with Hitachi StarBoard screen, sound equipment, conference microphones and TV screens.
Seminar rooms
2 well-organised seminar rooms, equipped with tables, chairs and a TV. Designed for smaller meetings with up to 10 people. WLAN available. Can be equipped with a projector and audio equipment.
Kitchen
The kitchen can be used by prior arrangement.
Catering set for 120 persons. Gastro coffee machine, large kettle (50 litres), electric cooker, dishwasher, fridge and freezer.
Guided tours on the site of the former Stalag VIII A and a permanent exhibition
We also offer the option of having one of our guides lead a group through the memorial site of the former Stalag VIII A POW camp.
A permanent exhibition dedicated to the history of the Stalag VIII A POW camp is part of the main hall. There are also exhibitions on the site on the following topics: Warsaw Uprising, Forced Labour in Görlitz 1939-1945 and The City and its Citizens – Görlitz and Zgorzelec 1945 – 1989.
