Olivier Messiaen’s “Quartet on the End of Time” was performed on the 83rd anniversary of its premiere in the Stalag VIII A Görlitz prisoner of war camp, now the Stalag VIII A memorial. The concert was originally intended to round off the “Messiaen Days” musically, but had to be cancelled due to financial issues. The performance of the quartet by the wonderful musicians of Ensemble Écoute was able to take place thanks to the support of the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony and the Sparkassenstiftung Oberlausitz-Niederschlesien.
