06 Nov 23 Safe and Sound – “Together for Special Educational Needs”.
“Currently, 465 students attend our school, including temporarily displaced children from the occupied territories of Ukraine, children with mental health problems and with special educational needs.
Since February 2022, war has been dominating our everyday life! Most of our children wake up at night and are afraid of the loud sounds of military vehicles and airplanes. Many students suffer from stress – the constant fear of Russian attacks, worries about the lives of beloved family and uncertainty about the future of the country pose great challenges even to the very young among us.”
This is what Vlada Hnatchenko – a teacher from our partner school Pishansky Lyceum in the village of Pishchane near the city of Kremenchuk – described to us.
One of the most urgent problems in school education today is the integration and psychological support of children with special educational needs. We want to help them by creating a place where they can escape from these problems and feel free from danger – Safe and Sound in the new support room.
Meetingpoint Memory Messiaen e. V. – Association for Memory, Education and Culture wants to support the implementation of this project in order to enable the right of a child with special educational needs to live a full life with dignity, special care of society and access to education, as well as to promote physical and psychological recovery and social reintegration of a child, as stated in the UN Convention ,,On the Rights of the Child”.
The purchase of the technical equipment will lay the foundation for the project and pave the way for our partner school to meet the extraordinary needs of the children.
What is planned for the support room?
The support room will be a specially equipped educational space that will enable harmonious mental and physical development of children with special educational needs.
Our goal is to provide every child with the opportunity to realize their right to education, maximize their educational and personal potential, and overcome social barriers.
Instruction in the support room is based on the individual needs of each student, with the goal of integrating the child into a regular class in the long term.
This can only happen with your support!
In this sense, we ask you, dear donors for your help to realize the project.
Thank you for any amount that will benefit the cause!
