26 Mar 22 SINFONIETTA DRESDEN WITH MUSICAL MESSAGE AGAINST WAR IN UKRAINE
On March 26, traditionally with the beginning of spring, we hosted our partner orchestra Sinfonietta Dresden at the Kulturforum Görlitzer Synagoge. The concert evening, “Beethoven | Intersection Points 5,” began with an unusual piece, “the emperor,” which the young Ukrainian composer Vasily Ratmansky wrote for the orchestra in recent weeks. The piece tackles topics such as dictatorship, propaganda and Putin’s unimaginable invasion of the composer’s homeland. With this piece, the orchestra expressed its opposition to the ongoing war in Ukraine.
The concert also featured Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5, a premiere work by Czech composer Lucie Vítkova, and the opera “Leonora” by Italian composer Ferdinando Paërs.
The next concerts in cooperation with Sinfonietta Dresden will take place in September and October 2022.
