Music knows no borders, music unites and constantly reminds us how important peace is. Children and young people from Germany, Poland and Ukraine, who met at the European Center for Remembrance, Education, Culture in Zgorzelec in the spring, found this out. About 100 children from the Diocese of Bistum Dresden-Meißen, the Diocese of Bistum Görlitz and Elementary School No. 3 in Zgorzelec spent a beautiful time together, filled with singing, dancing, pantomime and language animation – all in three languages: Polish, German and Ukrainian.

An important point of the meeting was the guided tour of the Stalag VIII A memorial. The children and young people were able to learn about the history of the former prisoner of war camp in an age-appropriate way. Finally, as a sign against the current war in Ukraine, we made beautiful peace doves together.

The project was sponsored by the German-Polish Youth Office.
