On Tuesday, May 31, we were visited in Görlitz-Zgorzelec by Juan Muñoz, a young composer from Colombia who is currently studying at the University of Music in Dresden. Our partner orchestra, Sinfonietta Dresden, has commissioned him to write a new contemporary composition as part of its next concert in the series “Beethoven | Intersection 6” , which will be devoted entirely to the theme of “Stalag VIII A.” We will see how the history of the former POW camp and the fate of the prisoners of war who went through it, will be reflected in Muñoz’s musical work during the world premiere on Sunday, October 16 at the Kulturforum Görlitzer Synagoge
